SuperCool Cinema returned to the Winchester Discovery Centre on 16th February for the first event of our 2012 calender, a St Babbage’s Day celebration to spread peace, love and understanding between humans and their robotic kin. After the success of screening Akira back in November, we continued the classic anime theme by enjoying the precision-tooled audio, visual and cerebral assault that is Ghost in the Shell, the night’s main feature.
Before we got to that point, the night had began in fine style with The Winona Ryders performing their original soundtrack to Daft Punk’s little seen robot road movie, Electroma, mixing rock (kraut-, prog- and post-) with funk, jazz metal, electronica and folk to wonderful effect. You can watch a recording of the whole thing just below. You can also check out a slideshow of still images from the night on the supercool cinema flickr account.

Coming next is Easy Rider in July. Vroom vroom!
